October's Full Blue Moon in Taurus: Spirit of Reciprocity

The Moon goes Full in the sign of Taurus this Saturday, October 31st, 2020 at 10:50am EDT.

This is the second Full Moon of the month, making it a powerful Blue Moon, and shining much needed Light into the Dark as we complete Harvest Season and journey onward into the beginning of Winter.

This Full Moon coincides with Halloween Night/All Hallows' Eve, All Saints' Day/All Souls' Day and Day of the Dead.

More than two-thousand years ago, Ancient Celts and Pagans celebrated October 31st as the New Year's Eve festivities known as Samhain.

Cattle was moved from summer pasture to winter grounds and livestock was slaughtered. Bonfires were lit to warm the night and protective, cleansing rituals were performed to welcome in the New Year on November 1st. It was a time to invoke blessings and seek guidance for the winter months ahead.

On Halloween night, it is said that the boundary between the world of the living and the dead, or otherworldly realms of Spirit and Faery, could more easily be crossed.

During this liminal threshold, disguising oneself in costume and feeding the Spirits with food and drink was one way to satisfy hungry ghosts, haunting spirits, unwanted entities and frightful faeries.

This Full Moon in the constellation of Taurus illuminates our relationship to the ways we feed, nurture and satisfy our own Spiritual needs in a physical sense.  We all have an opportunity now to redefine what true wealth is. This Taurus Full Moon energy is a reminder that everything on the Earth belongs to the Earth and does not define who or what we really are.  The sign of Taurus is represented by the Bull. Loved by Gods, Goddesses, Kings and Queens, the Bull is a symbol of strength, fertility, abundance and power. Ancient cultures around the world have worshiped the bull, cow, and calves as sacred, divine animals that nourish and sustain life.  As an Earth sign, Taurus relates to our sense of being grounded in physical reality. Taurus is stable, down to Earth, safe in being, at home within the environment.  In astrology, Taurus rules the 2nd House which represents our material possessions and wealth in the form of having. The 2nd House corresponds to our food, clothes and belongings, our home and living environment, our car, property and finances.

Taurus is ruled by the Planet Venus, known as the Goddess of Love, Beauty, and Money. Venus bestows blessings of abundance in the form of wealth, love, beauty, grace and charm. Venus influences our ability to attract what we desire and create wealth in our lives. This Full Moon in Taurus asks us to redefine our relationship to wealth based on the values we hold most dear. As an Earth sign connecting us to love, we must remember that life is an exchange of value and we get what we give. With the Sun in Scorpio opposite the Moon in Taurus, the shadows surrounding our identity in relationship to our possessions will surface to be transformed. Now is the time to release any misperceptions you have around your inherent wealth being measured by material gains.  Samhain reminds us that Death is a doorway we each have to pass through and no one gets to bring their earthly possessions or financial wins with them. What comes from the Earth stays with the Earth.  The questions to ask yourself now relate to the Nature of your Soul free of earthly attachments, the balance within our giving and receiving, and the Spirit of Reciprocity in relationship to the Earth and all sentient beings.  -Do you claim your inherent value and worth based on what you have or don't have?  -How do you define true value?  -Do you create your identity based on your belongings? -Who are you without your dress and apparel?  -How secure are you without the comfort of your home and finances?  -How do you share your wealth?  -Have you been stuborn when it comes to giving?

-Do you feel safe in receiving?  -Where in life might you be greedy, grasping, taking, clinging, withholding, unable to release?  When Death knocks on your door will you be able to fly like a Free Spirit in Flight, shining your Soul Light into the Starry Night?  Or will you stay and haunt the realm of the living? Clinging to your earthly attachments, starving for more? As you celebrate Halloween Night remember that Spirit is that everlasting light that truly belongs to you and no one else. Value that in yourself above all else, and value that when you see it shine and expressed in others.

May we embrace the Magic that lights our way through every cycle of dark and light, life and death, giving and recieving.  As both Spiritual and physical beings, may we give more to others in times of need, knowing that what goes around comes around. And may we remember that all things come and go, and will eventually return to the Sacred Earth.
