November’s Full Moon peaks in the sign of Gemini on Monday, the 30th, at 4:30am EST.
Around the same time, the Sun, in the sign of Sagittarius, and the Earth align, casting a partial shadow over the face of the Moon. At 4:44am EST, we hit the climax of this penumbral eclipse, with the shadow of the Earth covering approximately 83% of our Moon.
This Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse is a potent time for Inner Reflection, Self-Revelation, and Soul Renewal. As the Moon fully reflects the light of the Sun, we too are being illuminated in order to Release, Remember, and Rise.
With the Sun in Sagittarius directly opposite the Moon in Gemini, tensions may surface as we explore the duality of our nature in relationship to our Personal Power, Freedom, and Choice.
Let’s start with the Moon in Gemini, a sign symbolized by the Cosmic Twins.
The Moon relates to our feminine side governed by flow and the watery realms of emotion, instinctual wisdom, our mental powers and psychic awareness.
Gemini is a mutable Air sign ruled by the Planet Mercury and at home in the 3rd House of Communication and Intelligence. Represented by the “Divine Twins,” Gemini wields the power of thought, intellect, logic, reason, curiosity, mental connections, information, communication and discernment.
The energy of this Full Moon in Gemini holds the potential for each of us to examine our own sources of information and intelligence, and how we assimilate and communicate our innate wisdom within our most intimate relationships. It takes wit, tack, and mental agility to effectively share one’s truth with the world around them, especially when emotions run high. However, doing so opens the way for real power to flow.
However, that’s just one half of the whole picture being painted here.
Let us turn now and face the Sun in the Sign of Sagittarius.
The Sun, as Celestial King and Sky God, relates to our Personal Power, Will, Drive, Dreams, and Ambitions. The Sun gives us the Energy and Motivation to Act on our Visions. Our Sun lights the fires within that pave the way forward to our Highest Destiny.
Sagittarius, symbolized by the Mythical Centaur, is a mutable Fire sign ruled by the Planet Jupiter and at home in the 9th House of foreign travel, spirituality and higher learning. Known also as the Archer, Sagittarius embodies both man and beast and holds the balance between primal instinct and cultivated wisdom. This is the Cosmic Adventurer and Truth Seeker in pursuit of Higher Knowledge, Freedom and Spiritual Expansion.
Sagittarius reveals what is possible when the Human head and heart merge with the Power and Spirit of the Horse. Something otherworldly is born, two become one and their Power Unites to transform the world. The centaur demonstrates the polarization of opposites, or dualistic natures working together in harmony. The wild becomes tame, unbridled passions are harnessed, trained and employed for the Soul’s evolution. The journey towards one’s highest potential is met with grace, power, speed, and stamina.
The horse has long been associated with the Power of the Sun, Gods, and Kings. Humanity and civilization have progressed through the Power of the Horse. Partnering with Horse transformed life on multiple levels. The advances of travel, trade, agriculture, conquest and conquering, and the wisdom attained through the journeys made possible on horseback created the world we live in today.
Ancient myths tell of the Sun being carried across the sky like a Great Wheel of the Golden Chariot, drawn by Horses. Even Gemini has ancient links to the Horse. The Dioscuri twins in Greek and Roman Myth are known as both Healers and Great Horseman. The twins Castor and Pollux hatched from an egg laid by Leda, Queen of Sparta. According to the legend, Leda was seduced by Zeus in the guise of a swan and had twin sons Castor and Pollux.
Castor is the mortal son of Tyndareus the Spartan King, while his half-brother Pollux, is the immortal son of Zeus, God of War. Castor was born a mortal man, his other half however, was deemed immortal. Their love for one another bridges the gap between mortality and Divinity when Pollux requests eternal life for his brother. Zeus thus grants Castor immortality and the Divine twins take up everlasting life as the Star Constellation we know as Gemini.
Is it any wonder why the signs of Gemini and Sagittarius face one another from across the Great Wheel of the Zodiac? Is the Archer’s arrow aimed at the Unity possible when all men become brothers in love? What will it take to bridge the gap and ride together as one in pursuit of Freedom, Truth, and Spirit? What lessons must be learned now to remember the Gifts from the Gods and the Power of togetherness?
What needs to be released? What needs to be restored? What needs to be remembered?
The time is now upon us. This eclipse is here to bridge the gap between us and the Love that we all share. In Body, Mind, and Spirit we are bridged in limitless connections to one another. From the Stars to the Steeds, from the Ancient Myths to the Life we Lead, our Power multiplies through our connections.
Much like the Great Centaur of the Sky, much like the Great Horse has done from the ages gone by, much like the Divine Twins still riding on High, we too are one with the Sun, Moon, Earth and Sky.
When Light and Dark begin their dance and reveal the shadow of all things, we can look at all the shades and see that all is bound by a Rainbow in between.
